The ANNUAL Cohansey River Community Kayak Challenge, START-TIME 5:00 PM (about): on the river between the Commerce and Broad Street bridges. THIS YEAR: Up to eight 2-person municipal AND community organization teams are invited to compete!! Cumberland County Plein Air Art contest... FREE a special event for landscape and outdoor painters--all media, all day! Once again the Cumberland County Cultural & Heritage Commission partners with Gallery 50, Inc. in Bridgeton to host the Cohansey Riverfest Plein Air Competition.

No entry fee! Open to all artists 18 & up. Come out with your paint box for some fun artistic expression and camaraderie AND the chance to win some really nice award money! Gallery 50 jury awards presented Friday, 9/5/15, at their annual September "Nature & Landscape" show. You MUST pre-register by Friday, August 21, and check in RiverFest day August 22 (7:30 – 10:00 AM) at Gallery 50, Inc., 50 E. Commerce Street, Bridgeton.

What better guide than the American Littoral Society on their new CHABA collaborative “Rum River and the “Baywalk Empire” Bus Tour through a piece of the amazing Cohansey Watershed and Bayshore to uncover the hidden history of the rumrunning underground (and underwater) economy of Prohibition-Era South Jersey!  $10 to help defray cost of bus and BOOK AHEAD

Meetup about 1:50 PM at the Boat Ramp off the Broad Street Bridge in Bridgeton. Bring $10/ea for tickets, but PLEASE book ahead so we know you're coming. We want to get the bus off promptly so don't be late.  Once you book we'll give you a cell# for day of, to give us a headsup if you need to. We've timed this tour to cover the tourstops comfortably and get back to Bridgeton for the big Kayak race at 5 PM. Puhleez!
